The problem, essentially, is to get enough protein
during extended fasting periods, when grains and
legumes are out.  Nuts are about the only protein
source left,a nd I don't know if the one could get
enough nut protein without excessive fat and calories,
or how low the protein could go without problems.

I wonder.  For a day or three on occasion, certainly -
but it seems to me that if there was no game available
for six weeks, that's when the locusts, snails, and
lizards would become a very important resource.
