In their natural state, ostriches mainly feed on leaves, roots, flowers, and
seeds. Occasionally they eat small lizards and insects, too.

In captivity they are often fed alfalfa and grain.

So they are considered unclean because they eat lizards and insects?
I wasn't aware that they are grain fed in captivity. Mercola promotes
Ostrich on his site so I assumed it was good/safe to eat and I have to
admit, between buffalo, elk, and ostrich, the latter is my fav.
