BlankWe are seeing Ped. allergist tomorrow. Here is a list I made for him, want your opinions please....did I fail to include things I should have? Any advice--things you wish you had done/asked at your child's first allergy consult? Any help very much appreciated. At first I thought it was just a milk allergy and that's what the appt. was for, now I am not so sure its JUST that....thanks for any advice.....feeling exhausted and overwhelmed!!

Food/Reaction Time line

5/6/01--01/04/02--Breastfed almost exclusively (8oz Carnation Good Start at most 1x a week). No noticeable reaction (in hindsight, itchy nose and eyes, and a slight “rattle” or mucous sound in back).

Jan 2002--weans himself--starts on Carnation Good Start formula w/ no reaction (other than that mentioned above, realized in hindsight)

April 16--April 28, 2002--Intestinal virus (or that is what we were told it was)

Symptoms--projectile and “regular” vomiting--extreme diarrhea 10-15x a day--diaper rash--extreme irritability--refusal to eat--listlessness, fatigue, minor dehydration

Treatment--at first, just avoid milk, and lots of pedialyte…..after 4 days, more pedialyte and IsomilDF (soy based diarrhea formula), then when that was not tolerated, more just pedialyte, slowly back onto Isomil DF, then slow weaning on to mix of Isomil DF and milk, and eventually re-intro of all foods and intro of whole milk.

April 28-May 1: ½ Isomil DF and ½ Whole Milk in 7oz cup or 8 oz bottles

May 1-May5: ¼ Isomil DF to ¾ Whole Milk

May 5th--whole milk (drinking approx 16-24 oz a day)

almost immediately (w/in 24h) noticed runny nose, irritability, diaper rash, rattle in back, rubbing nose and eyes a lot---told ped @ 1yr check on 5/7--he said it was possibly teething or maybe a sensitivity to mother in law’s dog (but he really leaned towards teething)

May 16--Ped appt due to cough, mucous, runny nose, itchy eyes and nose--again says teething ( I have ruled out dog by this point)

Throughout May and June (ped says all symptoms=age/teething)

runny nose daily--some days more than others
                    Irritability/clinginess
trouble sleeping--begins napping less and waking up at night again
diarrhea and rash on and off
June 14-June 18--take off milk and ALL dairy due to mucous cough and mucous BMs--symptoms clear up

June 18-21--put back on milk and dairy to see if symptoms reappear--they do

June 21-July 11: Soy milk and soy products, rice milk--Dairy free Diet--no adverse reactions!!

July 11--symptoms begin (again)

Diarrhea (explosive and foul smelling) and slight rash
rubbing nose on carpet and furniture, as if it is itchy and he can’t get it to stop
                        Rubbing eyes
                        cranky and refuses to nap
Doesn't want to drink or eat
July 12-July 15

diarrhea worsening (more frequent, worse smelling, more runny)
cranky on and off (screeching as if in pain at times)
                        can sense abdominal pains
                        itchy eyes and nose
                        no appetite
July 15th-- NO SOY OR DAIRY--drinking only Pedialyte & Gatorade
