each victim's family), $50 for transportation, $60 to pay for the transfer

Current state of the account
Since our last update, the U.S. fund has received $678.00 from sales and
receivables on the t-shirts and donations. Mr. Malik Jeng sent his $100 in
March of 2002. The current balance in the U.S. account is $1,556.00.
In December of 2001, one of the shooting victims, Assan Suwareh, had the
opportunity for further treatment in the states. Assan was shot in the
shoulder and in the stomach which resulted in the surgical removal of his
right kidney, gall bladder, and duodenum. The young man is doing wonderfully
well - I saw him last year at the July 4th celebrations. > >His air ticket
to the US, $900.00 plus a $15 ($16?) transfer fee, was paid for from the
fund.
The most recent activity has been the payment for the ads, in The Point and
The Independent newspapers, in remembrance of our fallen comrades. The cost
for the four-day-full-page-ad came to $220.00.
My next update will be on what we can do to help Yusupha, Sainey, Lamin, and
Abdou Karim, informed by my discussions with them and their families.
Donations can be sent directly to Chevy Chase Bank - routing # is 255071981
and the account # is 163-430010-6. There is a $10 fee for this. Or, send
