XP offers fairly easy network setup. I don't know what level of instructions
you need. You will need to connect the two computers by cable. Use a switch
(or hub), or connect them directly using a crossover cable. Once connected,
the network installation wizards in XP should lead you through the rest.

This is just a start to see what level of detail you need for instructions.
