Freda,
This may be a long shot but I would say it would be the easiest that I can find. (can't find ez-disk anymore) There is a utility called gdisk that Symantec created awhile back. This page has the free version. http://www.drd.dyndns.org/fr_index.html?/gdisk.html

Just create a win98 boot disk, which is probably what you have done so far. Copy the gdisk utility to the boot disk and boot off the disk. From then, you want to type the following without quotes "GDISK 1 /DEL /ALL" and that will get rid of whatever partition is there. From there, you can then type the following without quotes "GDISK 1 /CRE /PRI /FOR /Q" and this will setup the harddrive and format for you in a few seconds. From there you can reload whatever operating system you want. Further details are available on the page.

If all else fails, you can always try back and myself or others can help you further. As always make sure you get off data you want to keep before doing this!
