Steve, I'm posting here an email I received privately a while back from Kevin Lauzon about USB 2.0 and Ghost.

It's possible that it may have some bearing on your problem so, for what it's worth, here goes:

<snip>
..............the key in the "advanced" section in Ghost 2003 is that "ALL" devices must be USB 2.0 in order to select that particular setting. First you must have a USB 2.0 port on your computer. I only had three USB 1.1 integrated (not removable as they are part of motherboard). I installed a 4 port external -1 internal USB 2.0 card for $40 from Wal-Mart. Then you need to disable all your USB 1.1 integrated ports which came with the computer. I did this on the BIOS screen. I have a Dell so you hit F2 when you first turn on the computer & find your devices with the arrows . It now works great. It used to take 4 hours to clone or backup my hard drive, now takes 35-45 minutes...........

  Subject: [PCBUILD] USB 2.0 PCI card install problems

  I have installed a Belkin USB 2.0 five port PCI card in my P4 1.7Ghz / 512MB system running XP Home (with SP1a and SP2), yet I don't believe it is installing correctly since I have to force the 2.0 drivers on and even after that it won't recognize an additional USB 2.0 external powered hub as a 2.0 device when attached to the PCI card.
