Here's what I would check:
1. If you have an older system, perhaps your CMOS battery is approaching its
end-of-life, in which case you will have to replace it. Consult either your
system or motherboard manual for details about doing that.
2. Is it possible that you are making changes to the BIOS that are not
compatible with either your hardware or your software? What sort of changes
do you have to make to get it to boot?
3. Does this happen after the system has been down for several hours, when you
do a reboot/restart, or does it seem to be random?
It would be helpful if we had some more details about your hardware and your
operating sysytem.
