Hello Richard,
Both Win98 and Win2K have issues with large capacity drives. Are you using
the Western Digital software to install the drive? If you are attempting to
format from an installation of Win98, FDISK and FORMAT will not recognize
the full capacity of a drive larger than 64 GB. Win2K won't recognize the
full capacity of a drive over 137 GB (hence, the numbers you're getting). I
suggest you boot from the DVD/CD-ROM using the Data Lifeguard Tools CD. Then
partition and format as you like keeping the 137 GB limitation in mind.
Western Digital has more information here: http://tinyurl.com/3ema2 Good
luck...

Subject: [PCBUILD] New hard drive
Hello all:
I recently purchased a Western Digital 160 GB hard drive. It only
shows up as 136 GB in the BIOS? It only shows 131 GB that is
formatable as expected. Am I running into a bios limit of 136GB?
Also I tried settings the format to 111000 MB, but the last zero will
not type? The only way to change from formating it all, is to use the
backspace key. It will let me create a 20 GB partition leaving 111 GB
as D: drive. I would like it to be 111GB as C: = Win 2K and the
remainder 20GB as D: drive = win98.
Thanks in advance
