The cmos battery is usually a disc about an inch across (about 2cm or so)
and a quarter inch thick (half a cm) and is usually located under a spring
clip on the mb.  Some older mb's had other forms of batteries;  some had
capacitors which served the purpose of a battery.  I doubt that the
capacitors could be replaced, but I do not know for sure.  Your owner's
manual might direct you to the battery if you still have it.

If you could find out what the brand and model of the motherboard is,
someone might be able to tell you better what to do.  Even the brand and
model of the computer might help.
