Hey Matt,
Speaking in tongues is okay.  I don't have the gift personally, but a lot
of people on this list do and it is a blessing.  I thhink that you are
speaking more out of your fear here than anything else. You are being
honest when you say that you are uncomfortable because it is different.
Lot's of Christians feel that way.  I personally think that it is
amazing!    Just like any of God's gifts, speaking in tongues can be
abused or exploited, but that is more because of the sinful nature of man
and not the goodness of God.  Perhaps you would benefit from reading 1
Corinthians 14 to give yourself some more thought on the matter.
