Paul, I don't think it's fair to expect people to read our minds.  I think
if you're thinking someone should pick you up or you'd like them to, you
need to communicate that to them.  I, as someone who needs rides and can't
drive herself, know how hard it is to ask for help.  But I also know how
frustrating it is to be willing to help and have someone who's afraid to
ask for it trying to act like they don't need it or don't want to impose,
and finally getting it out of them that they really would like the help but
don't want to inconvenience the giver.  It's more of an inconvenience to
have to guess and wonder, etc.  <smile>
