hi
you did not mention if it was a powered hub or not, I had a very similar
problem with my 4 port hub, and after talking to a friend he lent me his
powered hub to check against mine. Everything worked fine using his then
when I connected mine back up, up came the problems, so try and find someone
with a powered hub and try it.
One drawback they are 2 to 3 times the price and size but you may be able to
find one at a reasonable price if you look around.
hope this helps
Richard

Subject: [PCBUILD] USB Hub Problems
> Hi there
>
> I've got a small 4 port USB hub that plugs into one of the USB ports on my
PC. At the moment I have a digital camera/webcam and my Epson printer
connected via this.
>
> The problem is that although it works fine initially, it appears to stop
working and my system fails to recognise it after it has been connected for
a while.
>
> If I plug the equipment directly into the ports on the PC, there are no
problem, so the ports are working fine, just when I add the equipment via
this hub. On disconnecting and re-connecting, it works again, for a while!!
>
> This is the second hub to have this problem (different makes each one) so
all I can presume is that it's something else.
