According to the U.S. Census Bureau, a new baby is born every 8 seconds in
the U.S.. With a prevalence of 1 in 133 and only a 3% diagnosis rate
according to the Center for Celiac Research that means:
A new celiac baby is born every 18 minutes. 81 babies are born each day with
78 undiagnosed or almost 30,000 babies each year with only 900 diagnosed.
With a population now of over 292 million people, The CFCR calculates that
there are 2.2 million celiacs in the U.S.. Since 97% are undiagnosed, that
translates to over 2.1 million undiagnosed celiacs.
If ever there was a reason to work hard to get the word out to physicians,
pediatricians and gastroenterologists and to push for meaningful labeling
legislation, it is in these statistics.

If you want to do something, please print and deliver the Fact Sheet to
every doctor you know and contact your legislators. The ACTF has made that
easy. Go to:

And send a message to your representatives.
If you belong to a national organization, lobby that organization for
COORDINATED action.
