Folks...
Summary, so far. My argument with the site, after reading some of the suggested sources is that the author claims MSG is the SAME as the other ingredients, not that it could be hidden in them. For those of us with celiac, (migraines or not), the interesting thing is how ingredients we try to avoid can be hidden and not on the label.
Thanks for the responses.
Lin

-Hmmmmm, very interesting, but not sure it is accurate either. However, I
heard that they can label it under different names, so who knows? We might
all be ingesting this stuff and have no clues.. and here I steer away from
MSG, but now wondering if this article is really true. I know it is
probably hidden under natural flavorings though and a couple other. I was on
a site once, that had the alias names listed, but can't recall. Try going to
www.truthinlabeling, as I think this is where I saw it at.

-I think that it is only wrong in that it is too short a list. The
following web site lists even more:

-He's correct but just not explaining the reason. The FDA only requires MSG to be labeled as such if the quantity included in the food item reaches a certain level (can't remember what the quantity is though). So companies will often include an amount of msg just under the labeling requirement and hide it under labels such as natural flavoring, etc. Thus, not another name just a hidden ingredient. Hope this helps...
