I have used an MC60a mike for several years with several different Kenwood
rigs.  I love the mike, but it does have one annoying problem, RF feedback.
The cure is to run a ground wire from the base of the mike through the
center of the coiled mike cable to a screw on the side of the rig.  No more
problem and the mike sounds Great, not brassy like the mc80 or mc85.
