Just by way of adding my $.02 to David's response . . .
One of the most glaring omissions from Win XP Home vs. Win XP Pro is
the ability to create 'intermediate level' users (Power users, backup
operators,
etc.), which NT and 2K allow.  XP Home only allows the creation of either
a computer administrator or a limited user.  There are a number of other
differences, but this is one that stopped me cold with something I was
attempting with a client.
