I've been the proud owner of a Kennwood ts850 for about the past 4
years.  I regularly use it on the higher level nts nets.  It requires the
vs2 synthesizer but it's one of the easiest radios I've ever seen because
the synthesizer gives you morse code readout when you press the synthesizer
button when you power up the rig.  the frequency readout talks and
everything else is in morse. 73- kk3f
