Brent,

You may be getting interference from some piece of equipment in your
apartment, such as your computer or one of its peripherals.  Does the noise
go away when you shut down your computer?  If not, are there other pieces
of equipment you could turn off?  Also, if the interference seems to be
directional, you may be able to pinpoint it with the radio itself.  It will
probably take some time for you to track this down.  You might take the
radio outside just to see what happens to the noise.  Good luck.
