Quite a few chickens will get fatty liver disease, which will kill them
sooner rather than later.  Buy a carton of chicken livers and look at them
closely and you'll see evidence in some.  Then bear in mind these livers
came from "fryers" that are only several weeks old.  Buy a whole fryer and
look at the wad of fat at the vent.  --But (big but) even free range
chickens will put on a lot of fat.

OT--my oldest son's favorite joke from childhood (which he told for about
the 300th time the other day):

Q.  Why doesn't a chicken wear underwear?
A.  Because his pecker is on his face.
