We were hungry in LA, and happened upon this restaurant which, oddly enough is both Persian and Italian (Persian on one side of the menu, Italian on the other!). The waitress was very helpful when I asked about ingredients, and it turned out that their stews and soups contain barley, but everything else on the Persian menu was wheat and barley-free. There are of course the usual risks with cross contamination you would have in any restaurant that is not completely gf. I had a lamb kebob that was wonderful, and came with basmati rice and a salad with fresh cucumber, garlic, onions, tomatoes, and mint. It is called Pars/Jino's and is located at 5844 W. Manchester, around the corner from Howard Johnson at LAX.
