A first! The San Antonio Celiac Support Group is having its first Thanksgiving Dinner Potluck.

When: Saturday, 22 November, at noon
Where: Covenant Presbyterian Church, 211 Roleto Drive, Kitchen area (The I 410 access road west is now open again, making it easy to get to the church.)

Anne Barfield, the group's chair, invites you to come:

"We have been making plans for the Thanksgiving Dinner for next weekend, Saturday, November 22. The ham and turkeys are spoken for, and now we need to hear from you about the other dishes you plan to bring. There will be a table for appetizers and salads, one for turkey, ham and the trimmings, and one for desserts. Is anyone interested in making rolls?

Please call or e-mail me at [log in to unmask] to let me know what you want to bring, and how many people will be coming with you. We will begin the festivities at noon, and look forward to visiting with our extended celiac family.

The tables will be decorated for Thanksgiving, and it will be just like going "home" for the Thanksgiving holidays, AND it will all be gluten-free!"

So don't miss out on this opportunity to enjoy a gluten-free holiday meal and get some ideas for your Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Time is running short. Give Anne a call today or e-mail her to let her know you will be there and what you will bring.

Don't forget to bring a list of the ingredients in your dish to place by it. Some people have additional sensitivities or allergies--and who better understands their "need to know" than we do.

If your recipe is original or modified with at least 3 changes to make it gluten free, bring a copy of it, with your name on it, and give it to me for the Recipes page of our newsletter---or send me an e-mail ( [log in to unmask] ) with the recipe.

Cookie Exchange

We will also be having our annual cookie exchange at this meeting. This is a great way to enjoy a variety of gluten-free, homemade cookies. If your sweet tooth and holiday spirit say "Go for it!" here are the details":

Bake 3 dozen (36) cookies.
Put them into 6 Zip-Lock bags, 6 cookies per bag.
Tape your recipe to each bag of cookies.
Include your name with your recipe.
After the dinner, select 6 bags of cookies to take home, each bag a different kind of cookie.
