Hi all.
I'm looking for some help from veteran parents. My son is 21 months old and was diagnosed with CD in May. He's done wonderfully on a gf diet (growing, sleeping well, very happy, formed stools, etc.) He is also on a milk-free, egg-free, peanut-free diet from previously diagnosed allergies. We are a gf, milk/egg/peanut-free house.
Last weekend we stayed at my folks' house (a gluten palace). While he did not eat an actual bite of any gluten-containing food, I'm fairly certain he ingested some (probably from touching crumbs on the floor then sucking his thumb). He has been miserable all week- poor sleep, diarrhea, crabby, crying several hours per day. His behavior is eerily similar to his pre-diagnosis days. Can anyone tell me if this is a typical reaction from a gluten "hit" and does it normally last this long? We've been back in our home for five full days and today was just as awful as the first day. At first I suspected an ear infection but I had him checked and the doc said his ears look fine.
Any help would be so greatly appreciated. He and I are both wiped out. Thanks a million.
