A recent post requested info on whether certain drugs were gluten free. I thought I would post aon where you can find info directly when checking any drug you have a question about. Gluten is often in medications by way of inactive ingredients used to help the pill dissolve in the stomach or flow through the pill making machines. These ingredients are listed as inactive ingredients. All brand name medications sold in the US have a package insert that has loads of information. In the first part of that document is a section called description. This lists the drug and inactive ingredients.
With the wonders of the world wide web, most of the time you can get to the drug you want to look up with a web address of www.insertyourdrugnamehere.com. Augmentin, for example, would be at www.augmentin.com. I looked that one up. It is gluten free.
