I have read on several occasions of parents keeping a "treat box" in their
child's classroom for those times when someone is celebrating a birthday or
special event and no one told the moms to send in a GF substitute for the
cupcakes, etc. I believe Danna Korn addresses this in her book, but our
kitchen is completely gutted for a major remodeling job and hence all
cookbooks are in storage and out of reach! My son starts kindergarten in a
couple of weeks (sniff), and I'd like to know what others have kept on hand
at school for a back-up to special occasion treats. Some items I think of
will undoubtedly be part of my son's lunch from time to time (puddings,
crispy bars), so those aren't so special. I was thinking more along the
lines of treat-sized M&Ms and other candy (must stock up at Halloween!), but
I'm certain you all have other ideas to share. I will summarize. Many thanks!
