I disconnect my USB drive only because its only use is to transfer files. It
is not used for normal operation.

I have not run any performance tests on my USB since it is only a 4500 RPM
2.5inch drive. It would be very interesting to see what the actual
performance of such devices is compared to IDE and SCSI devices. If you get
a chance, please run some comparison tests and share them with us. Anyone
else run tests on USB drives?
