I have an HP Pavilion 7965 running WinXP Home Edition. I've attached a
Maxtor external USB2 hard drive and the system won't boot while it is
connected. It stops at the HP Logo screen. If I disconnect the drive it
continues to boot properly and when I reconnect the drive it recognizes it
and gives a warning that it is a USB2 High Speed device and that the HP has
no USB2 card installed. The drive then functions properly. I previously had
a USB1 Buslink external drive and the system booted with that properly. I
know the solution is probably to install a USB2 card but in the meantime is
it possible to get it to boot without disconnecting the drive?
Thanks,
Joe
