I think that might be the case ("grandchild'd out"). There's almost 20
years difference 'twixt the youngest and oldest grandkids, yet my dad was
just telling me yesterday what a grand time he had shopping with Anna...two
years ago. I just have to cut 'em a lot of slack, I guess. They've been on
the road for a couple weeks already, and while my brother's kids are grown
up, mine are still young 'n wild. They like to play with them, but when the
old folks are done, they're done--even when the little one's are still being
silly and playing around. They've taken the afternoon to pick up my eldest
daughter for a couple-day visit before they head home and she heads back to
school in Philly. I'm sure the tone around the house will change when she's
there. I love my parents to death, but as you said, in a way they drive me
nuts.
I'm also getting the idea that buying a condo might have been a mistake
after all. The kids have had few friends to play with this summer, and
that's been sort of preying on my mind. I just figured we could "farm" kids
in to play, but it just hasn't worked out that way.

I hadn't realized I sounded so proud. In a way she drives me nuts.
But
I drive my kids nuts, I know, so that's the way it goes..
About the big plans, we make plans and God laughs! I hope you can
keep
peace between Laura and your folks. Whe David and Judy came along, my folks
were "grandchild'd out", so they didn't get much attention from my folks.
