It is a myth that Christopher Columbus was so daft that he thought
he was in India. The biggest problem with this is that India at the time
was called Hindustan. "Indian" is a contraction of the latin In Dio. If
I was to refer to the Indians by their true and proper names I would have
to say Lakota, Ho Cunk, etc. and name each of a thousand nations
seperately. So, at the profound risk of political incorectness, I use the
term Indian or First Nation. I was born in Milwaukee, so I think that
entitles me to call myself a native american. I have no Irish citizenship
nor can I even speak gaelic.
