Hello listmates....
I am wondering out there in celiac land, who has or has heard of
Bullous Pemphigoid. It is an autoimmune disorder that affects the skin.
It is NOT DH, it has nothing do with Gluten ingested or topical. It is
an autoimmune disorder but it does affect the skin. We are about 99%
sure that our 12 yr old daughter has it. She has been GF for 2.5 years now
and is doing great. But over the past 6 months she has developed this
condition, mostly on her legs and upper back. They look like small pimples
or blisters and turn into ulcers. They are extremely itchy. She had some
biopsies done 2 weeks ago. The preliminary report is positive for this
Bullous Pemphigoid. They sent her biopsy slides to a specialized lab
in another state. Those results should be in on Friday. In researching
this disorder i find no mention of any connection to Celiac Disease. But
I curious if other Celiacs have been diagnosed with this. Her biopsies
were negative for DH and her celiac blood work is perfect. She tests
"negative" for the 3rd time in 2.5 years. She really never eats any traces
of gluten. Again, i'm just trying to see if there is a connection here
with any of you.
As always, Thanks a bunch !!!
Betsy
