I just got this from a company called Knowvel -- http://www.knovel.com

Does anybody know anything about this, if it is accessible, and with what technologies?

>>> WHAT IS KNOVEL?

knovel is much more than e-books. knovel is revolutionizing how science and
engineering professionals, technicians, and students use reference
information. The knovel database is powered by a collection of 400+ premium
science and engineering reference books and databases from major
publishers--all seamlessly merged into a consistent, user-friendly Web
interface. The content in knovel is full-text, searchable, and enhanced
with interactive productivity tools like live spreadsheet-like tables,
graphing applets, and calculation packages. Users can either search the
content like a database or browse it like a book. With knovel, users save
time and organizations save money in the research process.

>>> WHAT DO USERS SAY ABOUT KNOVEL?

knovel s functionality--the searchability, the interactivity, the
equations, the upgrading--and the single portal are of tremendous value to
purchasers of the content. -- Dr. Lou Torre, former Director of
Information Resources, ATOFINA Chemicals

A key strength of knovel is that it combines carefully selected content
from many publishers under a powerful and proprietary interface that
enables users to retrieve information across multiple sources and formats.
A high level of customer service reinforces this. -- Christopher Gibson,
Subject Specialist, John Rylands University Library of Manchester, writing
about knovel in The Charleston Advisor, Oct. 2002 issue

The price is very reasonable and the interactivity adds a greater value to
this product. I have not seen any other e-books that offer full-text,
interactivity and well-written help screens . . . knovelization goes beyond
regular PDF keyword search capabilities by providing for keyword and
numeric (real numbers) searching across a book s text, tables, graphs and
equations . . . The search interface is awesome! -- California State
University s Electronic Access to Information Resources Committee, written
in a review of knovel
