Hi, Lisa,
I'm the person who originally suggested offlist to Ashley to eliminate nuts
for a couple of months to see if there's improvement in the acne. Nuts
aggravate (not to confuse "aggravate" with "cause") acne for a large number
of people.
Here are a few links I found with a quick search on Google:

Some people with acne report that certain drinks and foods (particularly
nuts) worsen their symptoms. Studies have yet to confirm a scientific link
between diet and acne, but people with this skin condition should avoid
substances that appear to aggravate their symptoms.

Reduce intake of nuts and dairy products. Peanuts and peanut butter may
provoke acne in some individuals.
Reduce or avoid vitamin E.

dermatologists have been taught that it's not what you're eating (with the
possible exception of nuts) that leads to acne. (This article gives info
from Cordain's acne study.)

In some people, certain foods may make acne worse. The most common foods are
chocolate, nuts, and cola drinks. A few people who drink large quantities of
milk (more than one quart per day) may find that this worsens their acne.
