THere are other herbs used to treat various kinds of
parasites. We used crushed papaya seeds against
amoeba; other people I knew kept amoeba at bay using
black walnut hull. (But if you have IBS or anything
similar, these are very irritating to the colon.)
Charcoal pills will expel many kinds of worms -- not
an herb, but it is a natural and effective remedy,
trditionally used on pigs, puppies, and children. I
remember watching a documentary a few years ago about
monkeys who tended to become very infested with
parasites during the rainy season, but would begin to
eat a certain kind of leaf during that time which kept
the level of parasites down sufficiently for them to
survive the rainy season. The jungle people I have
known live with some level of parasitic infection; two
men who were brought into a jungle clinic for surgery
were also routinely treated for parasites; they woke
up thinking they had died and gone to heaven because
for the first time in their lives, their stomachs
didn't hurt. But most jungle tribes eat a staple of
cassava/manioc, and I guess that influences the
intestinal ecology as well.
