(Sorry, can't remember who first said this)
This can also be hormonal. When I first started menopause, I had such severe
palpitations that I once wound up in the ER. After 2 heart specialists (one
whose specialty was arrhythmias) and numerous tests, nothing was found
physically to account for this. The one thing that did help the most (besides strict
Paleo diet) was supplementing w. Carlson's Cod Liver Oil.
Nevertheless, I still get occasional, slight racing heartbeat, in the
evenings or at bedtime. I, too, find this happens even while eating strict Paleo
foods, if I've just eaten too much. Even at rest, I have always had a very fast
heart rate (at least 90, often higher) as does my mother. (And on the odd
occasion I get into something "really dangerous" such as too much chocolate or
caffeine, I'll have to take a Benedryl- but let's not "go there"!)
