we have a living will that says no heroic action and
do not resuccitate, but, we are being told that that
does not count for the feeding tube. my mother
indirectly let us know, i think. when she and my aunt
were caring for grandma, they had to choose whether or
not to have a tube for her. thay chose "no" and
brought her home and went with hospice. i think that
choice indicated what mom would want. i honestly do
not know what my brothers and sisters think.
this lets me know that there is one more thing to
address with my own wishes if i get to a simular
situation.
i certainly don't want to play G-D. it just looks
like on the website of the virginia university system
geriactrics that it may make her die quicker with the
tube than without. also lookes like she would be put
through more problems. there are things out there that
i never thought of. i have printed out 14 pages and
will go get copies made so all my sibs can see it. if
there are some disagreements, at least they will know
the facts that i have read. my two sisters have
defferred to the three males sibs on everything so
far. i do not think they need to do that this time.
