It does beg the question, though, why Congress passed a tax bill that
provides the "child" credit for individuals whose AGIs are below the point
where they would pay taxes.  Seems to me that it's a thinly vieled move to
buy votes and increase dependence on national entitlement programs.

I'm a fiscal conservative different from the rank-and-file Reaganomic
Republicans.  Methinks GWB's tax rebate we got during his first summer in
office was ill-advised.  I'm no fan of tax/spend government, but we
shouldn't be rocking the country's fiscal boat when the seas are already
stormy.

We're back to old black/white, Republican/Democrat arguments with the whole
"cut taxes or not" debate.  I won't touch that, except to say that it isn't
as simple as you make it sound.
