the theory is that you are permanently imparting a bend to the wood by
steaming it...
there is also some question as to whether it does any good to steam kiln
dried wood, what you are looking to do w' the steam is heat the water
inside the wood which is why a lot of time has gone into various
formulae for steaming time vis dimensions...
incidentally a microwave works fine for small pieces
