 Hi Harvey,
I don't have one of those radios yet but my standard radio has a button on
the microphone that turns off the squelch if you are on simplex.  If you are
on a repeater, it will put you on the input and opens the squelch.  I hope
that is what that button does  it is a good feature.  73
