Hi all:

Information on the new Kenwood rig can be found at:
http://www.kenwood.com/i/information/031010.html

For those actually considering this purchase,
first of all the HX model requires 2 input voltages to
make the 200W. An additional PS-53 maybe required.
I would also be concerned about accessive heat
build up as the main unit is rather small for the
power capability. There is also no internal automatic
antenna tuner with the HX version.
On the upside, The DSP, for those that like it,
the capability equals that of the Icomm IC-746PRO and
756PROII, coupled with a TS-950 class receiver.

I can see the HX version being dropped and not a big
seller in favour of the SAT version and a Second hand
KW amp, which could be had for around $400/500US,
another $100 or so for a KW capable tuner and no
worries about a possible input voltage mismatch from
the 2 power supplies.

Its sounds like the SAT version could be a good
product after a year or so of refinements and by then,
I hope I might be in a position to afford one.

73 to all:
Michael VO1RYN
