Michael,
 The Kenwood TS-850SAT is a great ham radio, I ran one for about 3 years but
this was quite some time ago. I have had the TS-850SAT and the Kenwood
TS-950SDX but I liked the the Kenwood TS-850SAT much better. I ran the 850
with a Kenwood MC60 mike which got me a lot of good audio reports. The MC 60
mike does have a tendency to pick up RF. I think the Kenwood TS-850 is a
very good radio.
