Harvey,
You will need an adapter, since the Kenwood uses the smaller jack for the
headset/speaker. ICOM and others use the larger jack. Don't buy the MFJ
speaker-mic. The Kenwood one is well worth the money. You have our phone
number, call afternoons and evenings til 2 am. You may want to get Comet,
Maldol or Diamond aftermarket HT antenna for the little beastie.
