I don't know about your first question but don't see why it wouldn't work.
Also, on your second question, the adapter is just another tip for the
rubber duck that's a little bigger then the other to make it more resonant
below 50 MHz.  that's all it is, you unscrew the tip and put this slightly
larger one on there.
