Many thanks to all who answered my question, however I solved the problem,
returning the 4 port hub to the retailer as I belived it to be faulty.
I purchased a PCI / USB 5 port card with USB 2 driver software incluided, 4
external 1 internal port. After installing the cart & driver software,
problem solved leaving the printer & adsl modem on the orgional USB ports &
installing the remaining items on the 5 port card all working ok.
A note of caution to all when using devices on a usb card / port for devices
which draw a heavy current ensure they have there own AC power supply such
as Printers & scanners etc, as the card can only handle m /amps on the ports
the cost of the PCI / USB card was A$30.00 the 4 port hub, A$60.00 almost
though I did not purchas the hub myself.
So the card was cheeper and the sulotion .
MAny Thanks
David
