My first laptop was a handmedown, and I fell in love with the portability and ease of it.  When there was a problem that required technical expertise beyond mine, I didn't have to crawl behind the wall and my computer to disconnect cables and go searching for muscle to load/unload the unit.  Didn't have to go to the expense of having someone come to my house, either.

So I'm sold on laptops, especially for women who live alone.
