My litetalk external card has the same problem.

While we're on the subject of dos and screen access, I can't get my screen
reading program to work in a dos box.  I am using jfw 3.7 and asap (latest
version).  Asap will start up fine if I am in true dos, but if I am in a
dosbox under windows, and I try to start it, no go.  It just locks up the
dos box, and sometimes the whole computer.  I am running windows 98 Second
Ed..  Any suggestions?

I've tried jaws for dos with the same result.
