I'm asking this question in this topic because its a perfect fit but its not
really following the discussion in this thread.

Has anyone heard anything about digital voice transmission via amateur
radio?  Most cell phones and two way radio services and even cordless phones
have switched to digital modulation.  But hams seem to be stuck on sideband.

Any thoughts on this subject?
