Pam, did we ever get that proverbial cup of coffee? I know we ran into each
other at Alta bates, but did we ever meet elsewhere?

People don't realize that the more help we get, the more we can be
independent, at least that is how it is for me and my supported living lifestyle.

I gave another workshop today on the philosophy of supported living. The guy
who ran it today, brought the book and videotape of "Christmas in Purgatory"
it is his photo essay expose' of the institutions in 1953-1969. and ever since
then there has been, thankfully, a gradual movement away from institutions. It
was all I could do not to cry when we saw the videotape of photos of people
shitting on the floors...... tied up in beds and chairs...
