I was able to try the escape codes for landscape(27) (38) (108) (49) (79)
given by At Neethling on a HP LaserJet 5L and they worked perfectly. I will
try them on a HP DeskJet as soon as I can.
It sure looks like there is no way to get a dot matrix printer to go to
landscape mode with a control code.
Thanks to all who responded.
