I was reading Timia's mental summary and it was extremely representative of
symptoms we could all relate to, i.e., short term memory problems, inability
to focus, irritability. I was curious though of how many people like me and
one of Timia's responses I read could not tolerate vitamins before going
gluten-free??? For me, it took time on the GF diet before I could tolerate
one vitamin again, then 2 a day, and so on. My tolerance level was affected
by intense stomach pain as I was diagnosed with gastritis (stomach
inflammation) and delayed stomach emptying. Delayed stomach emptying can be
hindered by hard or dense foods and I found that liquid softgel types were
more tolerable than the hard and dense pill forms. Even then, it still took
a while on the GF diet before I was able to tolerate more than one vitamin.
Now, I can take the pill forms without any associated stomach symptoms but
still prefer to take daily softgel capsules.
Laura Y.
