I don't remember what format I had originally (it was not NTFS). Whether I
had to partition it or not, I don't remember, but the formatting (and
partitioning if any) were done through the USB interface. I did not need to
connect the drive via IDE interface to the computer. However, any and all
data that were on the drive were destroyed. If you are wanting to CONVERT
from FAT32 to NTFS, that I have not tried. As best I remember, the
formatting was done using the Windows Explorer interface.
